Alex and Heather made it their mission to help dentists just like Alex’s father. This is how All-Star Dental Academy was born. Since its launch in 2013, All-Star Dental Academy has helped over 25,000 dental professionals around the world. We are committed to eliminating hard sales, manipulation, and unethical training, and replacing it with Fortune 500 level customer service and results.

A Family Story

Alex’s father, who is a dentist, was facing bankruptcy and asked Alex for help. Alex leveraged his business education, law degree, and experience working with a wide variety of companies, and took over the management of his father’s office. The obstacles of running a dental practice had unfortunately drained Alex’s dad of his passion for dentistry. Despite being an AGD fellow, Pankey graduate, and “Extreme Makeover” dentist, he had nothing to show for his efforts. He told Alex not to be a dentist because of how difficult it was to manage a dental business, the growing influence of insurance companies, and the feeling that people were always taking advantage of him.

Alex wanted to help his father. Alex is a former Tony Robbins top business coach, a lawyer, and holds an MBA. Alex assumed management of the practice and marketing efforts, yet phone calls were still not converting to patients. So he asked for help from his girlfriend at the time (now his wife, Heather), who was a Bloomingdale’s trainer. With Heather answering the phones and Alex running the business, they more than doubled the practice in 18 months to over $2.3 million in revenue. It was the combination of Alex and Heather’s customer service and business know-how that inspired them to start a new business helping dentists around the world fulfill their dreams of having successful and profitable dental practices.

Alex Nottingham, JD, MBA

Chief Executive Officer

Alex is the CEO and Founder of All-Star Dental Academy®. He has authored the dental practice game-changer book “Dental Practice Excellence” and co-wrote a bestselling book with Brian Tracy. Alex has shared the stage with Michael Gerber (the author of “The E–Myth Revisited”), and lectures nationally and internationally to prestigious dental organizations. He is a former Tony Robbins top coach and consultant, having worked with companies upwards of $100 million. His passion is to help others create personal wealth and make a positive impact on the people around them. Alex received his Juris Doctor (JD) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida International University.

Heather is a former retail sales trainer and manager for Bloomingdale’s, Kate Spade, and Theory, and a top new patient coordinator for a multi-million-dollar high-end dental practice where she personally increased revenue by over a million dollars in less than 18 months. She has over 24 years of customer service, training, and phone experience, and designed the All-Star Dental Academy® Phone Success Course as well as the GREAT Call® Process.

Chief Operations Officer

Tom is All-Star’s in-house diplomat and marketing guy. He has been involved in marketing, advertising, branding, and design for over 30 years. He has a BA from UCLA in English with a minor in Business, and another BA from the prestigious Art Center College of Design. For All-Star, Tom puts his creative talents to use in designing and writing our go-to-market materials, and uses his business skills to help strategically guide the company.

Larry is a highly sought after dental practice consultant and international speaker. His skill and talent is offering practical, common sense solutions to improve dental practice productivity. He is also a faculty member at the Dawson Academy. Larry has delivered countless presentations including, “Winning Patient Acceptance of Fine Dentistry,” “Working with You is Tearing Us Apart,” and “The Leadership Challenge.”

 Eric holds a degree in business administration and brings a strong business and systems approach to his consulting. His initiation into the field of dentistry was in the area of office management. He managed dental practices for over ten years and has been consulting over 250 offices nationwide since 2001.

Robyn began her dental career in 1998 as a marketing and communications director for a large group practice, and instantly fell in love with the world of dentistry. She has spent every waking moment since learning, growing and collaborating with dentists and their teams utilizing her expertise in all aspects of dental practice management, marketing, communications, HR, continuing education, and laboratory sales. Robyn’s personal goals are to make a difference in someone’s life every single day and to give the best of herself to those around her.

Shelly VanEpps

VP Business Development

Shelly is a seasoned dental professional with a remarkable 22-year career. She has held diverse roles from Office Manager to Chairside Assistant, accumulating extensive experience in both clinical and non-clinical aspects of dental practice. Recognizing the importance of mentorship, she transitioned into a Practice Coach role in 2015, leveraging her dental background and John Maxwell Leadership Coach certification to guide teams and enhance operational efficiency.
In her coaching capacity, Shelly collaborates with dentists and their teams, focusing on leadership development, phone skills, case presentation, efficiency systems, conflict resolution, financial arrangements, and reducing reliance on insurance. As of May 2023, she assumed the position of VP of Business Growth & Development at All-Star Dental Academy, where she serves as an Integrator. In this role, she remains dedicated to advancing the growth and development of the dental industry, emphasizing positive change within practices.
Shelly’s journey not only showcases her dental mastery but also her passion for empowering professionals and fostering high-functioning teams. As a leader and coach, she continues to leave a lasting impact on the landscape of dental practice management.

Jackie’s dental career began back in 2010 as a dental assistant. Over the years, she has been able to experience many roles within the dental field. Starting as an assistant, then a clinical supervisor, and in my current role I am able to assist offices in the ever present task of hiring new team members! I believe my experience inside dental offices has given me the tools to connect with Doctors and Office Managers to help truly understand what they are needing in their roles. In this challenging hiring environment, one of the best feelings is being able to find the perfect match for both the employee and employer.
